SUMMER IN SYCAMORE PARK
FISHING DERBY
The Parks and Recreation Department has a Pickerington Youth Fishing Derby each year at the Sycamore Park pond, at the end of Hereford Drive. They offer prizes in four age groups for most fish and biggest fish
caught. The age groups are 8 and under, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, and 13 & 14.
There is no entry fee. Participants must register through the Parks and
Recreation Department at 614-833-2211. Information needed is the name and age of
the contestant, and a home phone number. The Tournament Director is Brian
Arnold, who won several of the derbies years ago
PickeringtonKidz Festival
In late spring the Annual Pickerington Kids Festival is held at Victory Park. The Pickerington Parks and Recreation Department and PickeringtonKids.com sponsor the event.The event is geared toward toddlers through sixth-graders and features kid-related vendors, food, fun activities, inflatables, games, give-aways, and performances by several kids’ groups. It is a free event. TOT'S TRICK OR TREAT AT CITY HALL
The Parks and Recreation Department sponsors Tots Trick-or-Treat at City Hall. Children ages 2-5 years wear costumes and trick-or-treat at City Hall, 100 Lockville Road. Pickerington Police, Fairfield County Sheriff and Violet Township Fire Department display safety vehicles in the City Hall parking lot that afternoon. Watch for information in the Fall Program Guide.

HAUNTED VILLAGE
"The Haunted Village", the annual Halloween event, is held the night before Trick-or-Treat. The entire range of activities, featuring ghost tours, hayrides, story-telling, booths, food, and trick-or-treating with the merchants, a haunted garden, hayrides, food, a kids craft booth occurs on Columbus Street in Olde Pickerington Village. The ghost stories are based on historical fact, and will be presented in the locations where the pertinent events actually occurred. All venues are free that night, except for food. The Olde Pickerington Village Business Association, The Rock Factory, and the Lions Club partner with Parks and Recreation in putting on the event.
MITTEN TREE WRAP-UP
The winter items for needy families are picked up for distribution by the Job & Family Services of Fairfield County in early December. The items are generated by the Dorothy Steiger Mitten Tree at City Hall as well as from community contributions. The Parks and Recreation Department is grateful for the donations and support from the community.
LETTERS TO SANTA
Letters to Santa can be dropped off at the mailbox at City Hall each December. Children who drop off letters will receive an answer from Santa Claus or his helpers.
